Animals are so healing to us. I like to think of them as undercover therapists...

What do I mean by that?

They listen to our tears, they share our joy. They keep us in routine, they motivate us to do more. They test our boundaries, they follow our lead. They reflect our emotions, they feel our emotions. They’re incredibly straight forward, yet so fascinatingly complex.

The emotional intelligence of animals often leaves me in awe, they have a knack of knowing when to give us what we want and when to give us what we need. Dogs teach us how to love unconditionally, cats show us how to prioritise self care, horses teach us to set healthy boundaries. They’re a pretty good crowd to hang out with!

We all love our animal pets, pals, companions and colleagues, but we often forget how far

they have come out of their natural habitats and environments just to be with us. It’s easy to take for granted their insane ability to adapt and overcome difficulties in order to be the animals that WE want them to be.

Sometimes they may experience difficulties doing this, and often need help expressing their repressed energy.

As a UK reiki federation registered and qualified animal practitioner, I can help animals release their trapped emotions/

feelings/thoughts/trauma allowing them to find their flow again and move on into a better future. This is achieved by projecting an atmosphere (electromagnetic field) of extreme safety, relaxation and peace; which are all vital for the animals own natural healing mechanisms to be triggered. It is only in this ‘mode’ that whatever that animal is dealing with can be processed and released.

Reiki can not be ‘directed’ at specific ‘problems’, nor can I give you a guarantee that the animal will accept the opportunity. This must always be respected.

It goes without saying that your veterinary surgeon should be your first point of contact if you are concerned about your animals health or welfare, I can not (and will not) offer reiki to an animal as an ‘alternative’ approach to proper veterinary care.

With that being said, Reiki is an excellent complementary therapy for supporting:

  • Physical recovery (post surgery, injury, symptom management etc)
  • Emotional recovery (grief, anxiety, depression, mood swings etc)
  • Mental recovery (trauma release, mental focus, confidence etc).

If you are thinking about booking a Reiki session for you animal please note the following:

  • A time should be chosen to best suit your animal; when they can be kept in their normal routine and where they feel the most relaxed and safe.
  • A short form outlining your animals medical history must be filled in, along with a consent form
  • Reiki can not be directed at specific problems, only offered to the animal.
  • They have the right to refuse which must be respected.
  • They may feel very sleepy and need a rest afterwards

One session can benefit them massively, but a 3 treatments 1 week apart is usually recommended for optimum results.
